Indication
- Edema due to heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or nephrotic syndrome - Hypertension - Congestive heart failure
Ingredients
- Furosemide and Spironolactone
Direction
Take orally, usually once or twice daily, preferably in the morning to avoid nocturnal urination. May be taken with or after food.
Side effects
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Increased urination
- Electrolyte imbalances
- Nausea
- vomiting
- Muscle cramps
- Gynaecomastia (spironolactone component)
Precautions
- Monitor electrolyte levels (potassium
- sodium)
- Avoid in anuric renal failure
- Caution in severe liver impairment
- Risk of dehydration and hypotension
- Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides (furosemide component)
- Increased risk of hyperkalemia with ACE inhibitors or ARBs
