Indication
- Anaerobic bacterial infections - Protozoal infections (amoebiasis, giardiasis) - Surgical infection prophylaxis
Ingredients
- Metronidazole
Direction
Administered intravenously as a slow infusion. Dosage and frequency are determined by the physician based on the infection and patient.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal cramps
- Metallic taste
- Headache
- dizziness
- Peripheral neuropathy (prolonged use)
- Darkening of urine
Precautions
- Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 3 days after
- History of blood dyscrasias
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Central nervous system disorders
