Amdocal Plus 50 Amlodipine Atenolol 5mg/50mg

Indication

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Combines a calcium channel blocker (amlodipine) with a beta-blocker (atenolol) for more effective blood pressure control when monotherapy is insufficient. Also indicated for the management of angina pectoris in hypertensive patients.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine Besylate equivalent to Amlodipine 5mg
• Atenolol BP 50mg

Direction

As directed by physician. Usual dose: one tablet once daily. Swallow whole with water. Can be taken with or without food. Do not stop treatment abruptly — dose should be reduced gradually under medical supervision.

Side effects

• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Fatigue or tiredness
• Peripheral edema (ankle swelling)
• Headache
• Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
• Cold extremities (hands and feet)
• Nausea or gastrointestinal disturbance
• Flushing

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with severe bradycardia
• heart block
• or uncontrolled heart failure
• Do not use in patients with cardiogenic shock or severe hypotension
• Do not stop abruptly — risk of rebound hypertension or angina worsening
• Use with caution in patients with diabetes — may mask hypoglycemia symptoms
• Use with caution in patients with asthma or COPD
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment
• Consult doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Prescription drug — use only under medical supervision
• Keep out of reach of children
