Indication
Emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. Most effective when taken as soon as possible within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse. Not intended as a regular method of contraception.
Ingredients
- Levonorgestrel 1.5mg
Direction
Take one tablet orally as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, preferably within 12 hours and no later than 72 hours (3 days). Can be taken with or without food. If vomiting occurs within 2 hours of taking the tablet, another dose should be taken. Dosage as prescribed by the physician.
Side effects
- Nausea or vomiting
- Headache or dizziness
- Fatigue
- Lower abdominal pain or cramping
- Irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting
- Breast tenderness
- Delayed menstruation
Precautions
- Not intended for routine or repeated use as a regular contraceptive
- Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Not effective if the woman is already pregnant — will not terminate an existing pregnancy
- Consult a physician if menstruation is delayed by more than 7 days after expected date
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment
- May reduce efficacy of regular hormonal contraceptives — consult physician
- Keep out of reach of children
- Read the enclosed instruction leaflet carefully before use
