Indication

Anthelmintic (anti-worm) medication used for the treatment of intestinal worm infestations including roundworms (ascariasis), hookworms (ancylostomiasis), whipworms (trichuriasis), pinworms (enterobiasis), and tapeworms. Also used for treatment of neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease.

Ingredients

• Albendazole USP 400mg

Direction

As directed by the physician. For intestinal worms: Adults and children over 2 years — a single dose of 400mg (1 tablet), chewed or swallowed with water. May be repeated after 2-3 weeks if necessary. Take with food for better absorption. Chewable tablet may be chewed, swallowed whole, or crushed and mixed with food.

• Nausea

• Headache or dizziness
• Elevated liver enzymes (with prolonged use)
• Hair loss (reversible
• with prolonged use)
• Allergic skin reactions (rare)

Precautions

• CONTRAINDICATED in pregnancy — may cause harm to the unborn baby
• Women of childbearing age should have a negative pregnancy test before treatment
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• Monitor blood counts and liver function during prolonged treatment
• Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical supervision
• Keep out of reach of children
